My thanks to Trevor Gummer who has come up with the pre-season matches for July as we build into a return to the competitive action.
The new Corin Jones era for Presteigne St Andrews FC will kick off on Friday, 15 July when we will head to Caersws Reserves.
This promises to be a tough test first up, but Corin and his coaching team are keen to stretch the players early on so they can establish just where we are as we build towards the opening competitive match of the campaign at the end of the month.
The game at Caersws will kick off at 7.00pm on Friday, 15 July while it will then be a trip to Builth Wells six days later on Thursday, 21 July.
An early heads up to anyone who is thinking of taking in the game at Lant Field – it is the Royal Welsh Show and Thursday, 21 July is the scheduled final day at Llanelwedd, so you might like to allow yourself a bit of extra time to get there – although the worst of the Show traffic should have gone by the time we are heading to Builth for a 7.00pm kick off.
Saturday, 23 July will see us heading to Worcestershire for a game against Tenbury United – that one is due to get underway at 2.30pm, while the Reserves will be in action 24 hours later when they will head to Talgarth Town for a 7.45pm kick off.
As far as the first team is concerned, it’s all building towards Saturday, 30 July and the visit of Trefonen FC in the FAW Cup.
We’ll bring you more details on the pre-season games and, of course, the Welsh Cup tie as they come to hand.
