MMP Central Wales League South secretary Gareth Lloyd has confirmed Newcastle Emlyn have withdrawn from the league for the 2022-23 season.
While it is always unfortunate when a club has to take this decision, our own experience tells us it’s a tough time for any club and we wish Newcastle Emlyn success for the future as they return to the Ceredigion League.
In a post on the club’s Facebook page which you can read in full here, the club says the decision hasn’t been easy and they are sad to have had to make it.
They cite a host of different reasons for the decision, including players’ availability, commitment and rising costs and say they have to put the club first.
Understandably, this has led to Gareth Lloyd having to revisit the fixture list which has now been again circulated to clubs for their comments and observations.
As soon as the list is confirmed, it will be posted on the site but the initial indications are the league season will open with an away trip to Llanilar on Saturday, 6 August.
