Presteigne St Andrews FC showed commendable commitment in bouncing back from the disappointments of Llanilar to beat visiting Talgarth Town four-three in their MMP Central Wales South game at Llanandras Park on Friday, 12 August.
Given the news a sizeable number of players had decided to leave the club earlier in the week, it could have been a difficult evening for Presteigne, but they showed few signs of that as they went on to dominate the first half.
It was to prove a memorable evening for Henry Shaw who had helped himself to a hat-trick before the break, while Jordan McQueen was also on target as Corin Jones’ side led four-one at the interval.
Talgarth were never going to lie down, though and they scored twice more after the break to set up a tense finish.
But Presteigne held on to claim a morale-boosting three points and full credit to everyone who was involved in the victory.
This should give the side great confidence as they prepare for the JD Welsh Cup trip to Abermule on Saturday, 20 August.
