Presteigne St Andrews FC are in JD Welsh Cup action this weekend when they will head to Abermule.
This will be Corin Jones’ side first sortie into the national Cup this season – we had been due to host Trefonen in the previous round but they withdrew from the competition due to issues with a change of management and a player shortage.
So, it’s off to Abermule for our second qualifying round tie on Saturday, 20 August – a ground and opponents we know well from various Mid Wales League meetings over the years.
The sides won’t meet in the league this season as Abermule are not surprisingly in the north division of the MMP Mid Wales League while Presteigne St Andrews are in the southern section.
As for their early-season league form, well, Abermule have been pretty solid so far.
They have three wins and one defeat from their opening four matches with their only defeat coming in their outing last Saturday when they went down four-two at Barmouth and Dyffryn.
