Battling performance in Welsh Cup exit

A tough day on the road

Defeat at Abermule in the Welsh Cup

Presteigne St Andrews FC bowed out of the JD Welsh Cup when they were beaten four-two at Abermule in their second round qualifying tie on Saturday, 20 August.

But Corin Jones’ side put in a strong performance in this one and there is a general feeling the squad is definitely moving in the right direction.

After falling two goals behind it would, perhaps have been easy for the Presteigne squad to have crumbled, but they dug in and got the game back to two-one.

They then had a ‘goal’ disallowed, only for Abermule to regain their two-goal advantage in making it three-one.

Back came Presteigne to again reduce the deficit to a single goal before the home side finally put the game to bed when they scored a fourth goal.

So, it’s the end of the road in the JD Welsh Cup for this season – best wishes to Abermule for the remainder of their involvement in the competition.
