Presteigne St Andrews FC will head to Radnor Valley on Friday, 26 August when the kick off will be at 6.15pm.
Presteigne St Andrews FC pointed out to the league’s executive that – given Radnor Valley FC have no floodlights – there was a danger of the game being finished in, at best, gloomy and, at worst, dark conditions.
The league’s response was to bring forward the kick off time to 6.15pm with there being only five minutes for half-time to mitigate against the risk of the light going.
Again, hardly ideal as some players would not have time to get there after work, while this would also not allow time for a proper warm up..
The committee again registered our objection to this decision with some individual members contacting the league – with the committee’s blessing – to express concerns.
But we have been told tonight (Wednesday) that the game will go ahead as scheduled with a 6.15pm kick off.
Given we are only in August, committee members are openly questioning the need to play this fixture – after all, there will be plenty of other dates as the season unfolds.
While we sympathise with Radnor Valley’s situation in that they have reportedly had four matches called off through no fault of their own, we don’t see why we as a club should be put at a potential disadvantage because of this.
