Saturday, 8 October was not a great day for Presteigne St Andrews FC as both sides were beaten on the day.
Corin Jones’ first team squad made the long trip to Tregaron Turfs for what was always likely to be a tough game.
After all, Tregaron had won five-one in a FAW Amateur Trophy tie at Llanandras Park on Saturday, 3 September.
It proved to be even tougher in this game at Tregaron ran out seven-nil victors in a game in which assistant manager Chris Shurmer made his debut for the club at the age of 45 and who played 40 minutes.
One thing is for certain, Presteigne and Tregaron are going to get to know each other well in the coming weeks.
They will meet at Llanandras Park in a J Emrys Morgan Cup tie on Saturday, 15 September, before facing off again in a MMP Central Wales South match – again, at Llanandras Park – a week later on Saturday, 22 October.
As for the Reserves, they put up a decent showing in their home Mid Wales League (South) game against St Harmon but it was the Swifts who headed home with all three points after a two-nil victory.
