Saturday, 15 October will see Presteigne St Andrews FC hosting Tregaron Turfs in the second round of the J Emrys Morgan Cup.
This game represents the third meeting of the season to date and comes only a week after the Turfs ran out seven-nil winners over Corin Jones’ side in a league meeting in that corner of Ceredigion.
So, no doubt Presteigne will feel they have something of a point to prove and they are likely to be bolstered by the return of one or two who were unable to make the trip last Saturday.
But one thing is for certain – this is going to be a very tough game for Presteigne.
In addition to that heavy league defeat last weekend, Tregaron were five-one winners at Llanandras Park when the sides met in a FAW Amateur Trophy tie earlier in the season.
In a curious quirk of league and various cup fixtures, this will be a part two of a ‘Presteigne-Tregaron trilogy’ as the Turfs will also spend the morning of Saturday, 22 October flogging across vast tracts of Wales when they head back to Llanandras Park for a league fixture.
Still, at least they will know the way by that stage – it will be their third trip to Presteigne this season in all competitions and we are still to reach the end of October.
Just a note for those heading down to Llanandras Park – there is a roll on, roll off substitutes rule in place for the J Emrys Morgan Cup and the kick off is scheduled for 2.30pm.
There is no game for the Reserves this weekend – in their five-club Mid Wales League (South) it is their turn to miss out.
