Presteigne St Andrews FC were beaten five-nil in their Central Wales South fixture at Aberystwyth University on Saturday, 29 October.
While I have no details on the game as yet, this was clearly another tough day for the first team – a long trip and then a disappointing result at the end of it.
But, on a day of high scores, it’s fair to say it could have been far worse.
After all, Aberaeron were on the wrong end of a ten-nil score line in their game at Penparcau, but this wasn’t the day’s biggest margin of victory.
That came much closer to home with Knighton Town taking the honours when they went to Penybont United and ran out eleven-nil winners.
As for the Reserves, they were in action at Llanandras Park where they took on Churchstoke in the first round of the MWLS/Montgomeryshire Amateur League Cup.
Sadly, it wasn’t to be for Roy Simcock’s side in this one although early reports suggested the put up a good showing in going down three-one.
So, disappointment for both sides on this occasion, but it’s on the next round of fixtures and the hope is that fortunes will turn.
Presteigne St Andrews FC will host Trewern in the first round of the Central Wales FA Cup at Llanandras Park where the kick off will be at 2.00pm, while the Reserves will head to Newcastle for a Mid Wales League (South) fixture.
