As had been suspected and, in some quarters, probably anticipated, Presteigne Reserves’ scheduled Mid Wales League (South) fixture against Newcastle on Wednesday, 9 November has been postponed.
A mid-afternoon inspection of the pitch at Llanandras Park found parts of the playing surface to be waterlogged and so, after consultation with the league secretary, the match was called off.
That game will be rescheduled for some point – presumably between now and Christmas – and we will advise you of the new date as soon as it comes through.
Heavy rain in the Presteigne area over the last two or three days continued into today and, while the rain wasn’t as persistent as in previous days, there were still some sharp showers that would not have helped the situation.
As things stand, we won’t have to wait long for a game against Newcastle as, through a quirk of the fixture, they are due at Llanandras Park on Saturday, 12 November when the game is due to kick off at 2 o’clock.
