After a battling performance in the Radnorshire Cup tie against Radnor Valley in the week, it’s back to league action for Presteigne St Andrews FC on Saturday, 19 November.
Corin Jones and Chris Shurmer’s side will make their longest trip of the season when they head to Machynlleth for a Central Wales South fixture.
Now, anyone with any knowledge of the geography of Wales will know that Machynlleth could hardly be classed as in the south of anywhere – unless it’s the south of north Wales.
As for the reasons why they ended up in the Central Wales South this season, I am led to believe it is because Mach opted not to take up the offer of a place at Step Three but, by the time that decision was reached, Central Wales North was up to its full complement of teams.
With one or two clubs having dropped out the Southern Division, Mach were ‘invited’ to take up a vacancy here which means plenty of long trips for them this season, although at least they are playing competitive football.
So, it will be a long trip north for Chris and the boys this weekend but here’s hoping they can field a strong side for the game.
Mach are currently in sixth spot in the table with 12 points from their opening seven league matches.
Surprisingly, given we are in the middle of November, they have played only two away matches in the league so far this season. Of their five games at home, they have won three and lost two.

As for the Reserves, they were also due to be on the road this weekend, but their scheduled trip to St Harmon for a Mid Wales League (South) fixture has been postponed.
Sadly, a lack of available players means we were unable to raise two sides this weekend and so the Reserves’ match has been called off.
