Presteigne St Andrews FC will be back at Llanandras Park for their MMP Central Wales South game on Saturday, 18 February.
After an encouraging showing in the three-two home defeat by Aberaeron last time out, Corin Jones’ side will be looking to build on that.
Now, even those with the most rudimentary grasp of Welsh geography might well be thinking: ‘Machynlleth in the South division – really?’
Admittedly this is a bit of a stretch in the credibility stakes but, to be fair to both the league and Machynlleth, as I understand it there were mitigating circumstances.
Mach were due to play a level higher but, for various reasons, opted to withdraw from that level.
By then, the North division of the Central Wales League was fully subscribed and to their only option was to head to the glamorous South instead. Well, that is what I was told but no doubt someone from Machynlleth will advise us in the clubhouse after the game if that is wildly wide of the mark.
Today’s visitors are eighth in the table with 18 points from their opening 13 games but have won only once on the road so far this season.
Were Presteigne to take the three points from this one, then it might well see them climb a place, but that would only be the case if Talgarth Town failed to take anything from their home game against Knighton Town.
The kick off at Llanandras Park this afternoon will be at 2 o’clock.
