The Spar Mid Wales League Secretary Phil Woosnam has confirmed the league has received 19 formal applications for the new second division that is due to be in place for the start of next season.
Of these, Morda’s application was immediately discounted as they are based in England. This was no great surprise as Bishops Castle were denied promotion for similar reasons.
CP Llanandras have applied to be part of the new set up but all applicants will now have to undergo a ground inspection which is to be carried out by Phil Woosnam and Phil Jones on Sunday 13 March.
Given the criteria for the new second division will initially not be as stringent as those for the current Spar Mid Wales League, and given that Presteigne St Andrews play in the Spar League, it is not anticipated that there will be too many problems.
However, the final make up of the new division is far from certain as it will clearly be dependent on the number of clubs coming down from the FAW Premier League and Cymru Alliance.
More information about the inspection will be posted here as and when we get the details.
