The weather decimated large parts of the day’s fixtures in both the Spar Mid Wales League and Mid Wales League (South), but there were still a number of significant results in both divisions.
Pride of place in the Spar Mid Wales League has to go to Penparcau who buried Llanfyllin Town 14-0. ‘arky led 11-0 at half-time on a day that the Magpies will want to put behind them as quickly as possible.
Shock of the day came at Aberystwyth University where the students reportedly paid the price for a very poor first half as they went down 2-1 at home to visiting Dolgellau. There were no goals in the game between Waterloo Rovers and Newtown Reserves, while all the other matches were called off.
In the Mid Wales League (South), Rhosgoch Rangers proved far too strong for the bottom side St Harmon, beating their visitors 10-0 to move to within a point of the leaders Builth Wells who didn’t play.
Presteigne Reserves saw off Radnor Valley 4-1 to remain in third place, while Knighton Town kept in touch after a convincing 6-0 win at Hay St Marys Reserves.
It was a good day for CP Llanandras who beat visiting Newbridge Reserves 2-0 and who moved up two places in the table as a result.
In the only other game to be played, Talgarth Rovers beat visiting Penybont United 2-1 and, while the teams remain next-to-next in the league table, there are now 10 points between them.
