After last weekend’s round of matches there were four clubs locked together on 38 points at the top of the table with Tywyn Bryncrug’s superior goal difference ensureing they remained on top of the pile even though their match last Saturday was among those called off. Tywyn will feel reasonably confident of keeping up the pressure on their rivals when they host Waterloo Rovers.
Rhayader Town’s midweek game at Hay St Marys was called off, so they were left kicking their heels but with more time to prepare for the visit of Carno in what is one of the division’s games of the day.
While Presteigne St Andrews will host one of the most-improved sides of recent weeks in Dyffryn Banw, the Llanandras Park club’s opponents of last week – Aberystwyth Reserves – head to Latham Park for a game against Newtown Reserves.
Llansantffraid Village will head to Aberystwyth University who were four-one winners at Caersws Reserves on Monday evening. Two more of the title-chasing clubs – Llanrhaeadr and Bow Street – will also feel they have winnable games. Llanrhaeadr will entertain second-bottom Caersws Reserves while Bow Street travel to a Llanfyllin Town side that will be licking its wounds after that game at Penparcau.
Two sides in the bottom four will meet, with Newbridge due to make the long trip to Dolgellau when – pitch permitting – the villagers will go in search of what would be their third league win of the season.
In the Mid Wales League (South), Rhosgoch Rangers 10-0 home win over bottom side St Harmon last weekend top them back to the top as Builth’s game at home to Llandrindod Wells Colts was called off. So, Rhosgoch against third-placed Presteigne Reserves will certainly be the match of the day at this level.
Should Rhosgoch slip up, then Builth will look to take full advantage by taking three points from their game at Radnor Valley while Llandrindod Wells should maintain their momentum with victory at struggling St Harmon.
Talgarth Town will host a Newcastle side that is capable of springing a surprise while Knighton Town will entertain Builth Wednesdays. Here’s hoping the Bryn-y-Castell playing surface can hold up as the rearranged Radnorshire Cup semi-final is due to be held there the following day.
Rhayader Reserves and Talgarth Rovers are both mid-table with Rhayader due to head to head to Sennybridge and Rovers due at Newbridge Reserves.
A week after what was only their second league win of the season, CP Llanandras will head to Penybont Athletic looking to complete a league double while in the day’s other game, Llandrindod Wells Colts will entertain Hay St Marys Reserves.
