Presteigne St Andrews’ scheduled home first-team game against Dyffryn Banw on Saturday 27 February has been switched to Dyffryn Banw because of the state of the Llanandras Park playing surface.
The Reserves’ match against Radnor Valley last weekend took its toll on the pitch and, while it was hoped it would recover in time for Saturday’s match, there is a very real fear that to play on it this weekend might seriously damage it.
Club chairman Alan Randell said a decision was left as late as possible, but it had to be taken on Friday morning to allow Dyffryn Banw to make the arrangements.
“Due to the town ground cutting up last weekend and also as it is still wet, the first-team game will now be away at Dyffryn Banw,” he said.
“There is now no game at home this weekend, but we hope supporters appreciate this was done for the very best reasons as the weather forecast is not great for tomorrow either.
“We don’t want to damage the pitch further as there are a lot of home games still to be played this season,” he added.
Those fans who don’t normally travel to the more far-flung away games, but who are still in need of their football ‘fix’ this weekend are reminded the rearranged Radnorshire Cup semi-final at Knighton Town is due to be played on Sunday 28 February when the kick off will be at 2.00pm.
If you are heading to Dyffryn Banw, then directions are here.
It is likely there will be a further inspection at Llanandras Park on Monday 1 March to determine if the scheduled Under 18s game against Ledbury Swifts can go ahead.
