The clubhouse was packed for the annual Maunday Thursday quiz as 21 teams did battle for the shield and the rather attractive Easter eggs and wine that went with it.
In reality of course 20 teams did battle for the right to finish second behind Norton United who successfully defended their title and who, in the true sporting traditions of such events, were roundly booed when the results were read out!
To their credit, the team in which I was a member was marking their papers and they didn’t get a lot wrong so were deserved winners of the title as they finished a full five points clear of the field.
It was a Norton one-two-three as Norton Poachers – who had transferred Dot Griffiths from Norton United for a big-money fee on deadline day – finished second and Norton Rovers took third place.
Many thanks to Tim and Marian Sanders for running what was an excellent quiz with a good balance of questions – once again, most of us would have gone away from the clubhouse at the end of the night thinking: ‘I didn’t know that, but will remember that in future’ – only, of course, to completely forget it in time for the next quiz.
Thanks also to those groups and organisations not directly connected with the Football Club for their support – there were a lot of you down there and we are grateful to you for your support.
More photos will be posted on the Social Events page of the site when I get the time, but am knocking this report out in my lunch 10 minutes ahead of a busy Easter weekend!
A match preview for the Radnorshire Cup Final will appear on the first team page of the site at some stage today or tomorrow (Saturday).
