Derby game called off.. but already rearranged!

Today’s scheduled Mid Wales League (South) derby game between CP Llanandras and Presteigne Reserves has been postponed.

An inspection of the John Beddoes School field early this morning left club officials with no option other than to call off the game.

They did look into the possibility of switching the game to Llanandras Park, but this was ruled out as the pitch was not marked out or prepared and groundsman Tracy Hammond was away.

But Reserve-team manager Barry Williams tells me that he and his CP Llanandras counterpart Andy Crowe have agreed to play the game on Wednesday 14 April when the sides are already due to meet in the Bucknell Cup semi-final.

The game will now effectively be a double up as it will still count as a Bucknell Cup semi-final – it will have to as the final is scheduled for Sunday 18 April!

This arrangement is subject to approval from the Mid Wales League (South) secretary Paul Worts as it would mean CP Llanandras surrendering home advantage for their league game as it is proposed to play the match at Llanandras Park.

As soon as we get confirmation that this has all been approved it will be posted on the site but today’s postponement means there is no football for Presteigne teams on Saturday 3 April, so attention will now turn to Bank Holiday Monday and the Radnorshire Cup Final….
