Presteigne St Andrews head to Hay St Marys on Monday 5 April for the Radnorshire Cup Final in which they will take on Talgarth Town.
Tim Broome’s side was without a game on Saturday due to Dyffryn Banw’s supposed involvement in the Central Wales Cup in which they were due to take on Llanidloes Town.
However, down came the soft refreshing in bucketfuls – well, I suppose it has been a dry, old winter… – and so Banw’s game went by the wayside. Not that we would have played at Llanandras Park anyway – club officials looked into the chance of playing the CP Llanandras-Presteigne Reserves match there after the John Beddoes School field was deemed unplayable, but the town ground was also unfit.
Talgarth Town did have a game on Saturday and they maintained their push towards the top of the Mid Wales League (South) in beating Newbridge Reserves 3-1 at home, so they will be in good heart for the final.
A reminder that there is no Gareth Mansell for Presteigne – he lives too far away from Llanandras Park to qualify under the Radnorshire Cup rules, but Jack Keating does qualify after research proved he is within the required radius.
There is a detailed preview of the game on the first team page of the site and it is hoped that there will be a good turn out of supporters from the Presteigne camp as Tim and his side go in search of the first trophy of the season. The kick off at Hay will be at 2.30pm.
If you are heading to Hay for the final please take a digital camera with you and then email your best efforts into the site for use in the match report. I know this is a regular (like every week..) appeal, but unfortunately work commitments mean I can’t get to the game so I really would appreciate any photos you could supply.
