Presteigne St Andrews won the Radnorshire Cup after a narrow 1-0 victory over Talgarth Town in the final played at Hay St Marys FC on Monday 5 April.
Sam Williams was brought down for a first-half penalty, but picked himself up and scored from the spot for what was ultimately the decisive moment of the game.
The strong wind spoiled the game to a degree – Presteigne had the wind at their backs in the first period and were the better side, but Talgarth – who were a strong, physical side – came back into proceedings after the interval.
In the view of the car-load I have just spoken to, Presteigne deserved the win over the 90 minutes and so congratulations go to Tim Broome and his squad for landing their first silverware.
A more detailed report on the game will appear on the first team page at some stage tomorrow – thought it was probably best not bother them tonight….
If you have any photos of the game or presentation, then please email them in for use in the match report.
A reminder that CP Llanandras return to action tomorrow evening (Tuesday 6 April) when they will take on Mid Wales League (South) leaders Rhosgoch Rangers at the John Beddoes School field.
There is a preview of that game up on the CP Llanandras page of the site and I am reliably informed that the kick off in that one is likely to be at 6.15pm, even though the BBC site suggests 6.30pm as there is some concern that, given the weather, it might otherwise be dark before they finished.
