Rhayader Town last night picked up the win they needed to move level on points with Carno and Penparcau at the top of the Spar Mid Wales League table.
Rhayader were 5-0 home winners over a Newbridge side that had shown serious signs of improvement in its recent outings, but a trip to the Weirglodd was clearly a step too far for the Villagers who remain seven points clear of bottom spot.
Bottom spot is still occupied be Caersws Reserves who were beaten 3-0 by Hay St Marys last night – a Hay St Marys side that had the former Hereford United player Gareth Davies barking out the orders from the touchline in that one.
Caersws remain a point below Llanfyllin Town at the foot of the table but have played three games more.
A preview of the Friday night action at Latham Park in which Tim Broome’s first team will travel to take on Newtown Reserves will appear on the site at some stage later today.
