The Spar Mid Wales League was clearly the place to be for entertainment this weekend as the eight matches averaged nearly five goals per game.
Penparcau stole a march on one of their main Spar Mid Wales League title rivals when they came away from Carno with a 1-0 victory on Saturday 10 April.
Rhayader Town stay in touch – they are level on points with Penparcau, but were clearly made to work hard before coming away from Dolgellau with all three points courtesy of a 3-2 victory, while Bow Street are also hanging on in there after they picked up an impressive 2-1 win at Llansantffraid Village.
Speaking of impressive results, well done to Hay St Marys who went to Tywyn Bryncrug and thumped the home side 5-1 while Dyffryn Banw were also in decent goalscoring form in heaping further misery on the bottom side Caersws Reserves – Banw won that one 8-0 and in doing so go above Presteigne into ninth spot.
Llanrhaeadr continue to go about their work with a quiet efficiency that keeps them bang in the title race – they beat visiting Waterloo Rovers 3-1 and are five points off the pace with games in hand, while Newbridge were 2-0 home winners over Llanfyllin Town.
In the Mid Wales League (South), Presteigne Reserves saw off Builth Wednesdays 4-0 at Llanandras Park, but CP Llanandras came unstuck as St Harmon recorded what was only their second league win of the season with a 5-2 success at the John Beddoes School field.
Rhosgoch Rangers might have played more games than their main title rivals, but they remain the team to catch after narrowly beating visiting Talgarth Town 3-2. Builth Wells lost ground when they were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Knighton Town, so Rhos are four points clear but have played two games more.
Llandrindod Wells were in League Cup semi-final action and they booked their place in the final against Builth Wells courtesy of a comprehensive 6-1 win at Penybont Athletic.
Back in the league, Newcastle – in seventh – moved level on points with Knighton Town after a 3-1 home win over Penybont United, while Rhayader Town Reserves heaped more misery on Llandrindod Wells Colts by going to the Broadway and winning 9-0.
Talgarth Rovers just shaded their game at Radnor Valley winning 1-0, while Sennybridge are showing signs of a new lease of life as they beat visiting Hay St Marys Reserves 2-0.
