Preview of the weekend action…

Presteigne St AndrewsPenparcau have a chance to put down a marker in the Spar Mid Wales League title race this weekend when they will play two matches in three days.

The leaders will host Dyffryn Banw on Saturday before making the short trip to Aberystwyth University on Monday 19 April.  They start the weekend level on points with Rhayader Town who head to Waterloo Rovers on Saturday afternoon.

Carno are still very much in the hunt, so Presteigne St Andrews can expect a tough test when they head there, but third-placed Bow Street are without a game.

Llanrhaeadr and Aberystwyth Reserves will feel they are still in with a shout in terms of the title race while Tywyn Bryncrug are 11 points off the pace with games in hand.    Llanrhaeadr and Aber Reserves both have winnable games – Llanrhaeadr host Newtown Reserves while Aber Reserves head to bottom side Caersws Reserves.

Should Caersws Reserves come up with a shock result against Aber Reserves, then they could go above second-bottom Llanfyllin Town who host Tywyn Bryncrug.

In the day’s other games, Hay St Marys face a long trip to Dolgellau while it will be a 3.15pm kick off at Newbridge where Llansantffraid Village will be the visitors.

In the Mid Wales League (South) Presteigne Reserves will take on Builth Wells in the division’s game of the day, while leaders Rhosgoch Rangers have two games in two days – they go to Radnor Valley on Saturday and then host Llandrindod Wells Colts on Sunday.

Rhosgoch will know they will need to pick up maximum points as Builth are only a point behind with a game in hand while they are fourteen goals better off in the goal difference stakes, so Rhos will be looking to Barry Williams and his Reserves to do them a favour tomorrow.

Llandrindod Wells will still have a major say in the title race but will face a tough test against visiting Newcastle, while Knighton Town will host Talgarth Rovers.

CP Llanandras will be looking to get things back on track at home to Llandrindod Wells Colts while bottom side St Harmon will be chasing a third straight win when they will entertain Talgarth Town.

In the day’s other matches at this level Builth Wednesdays will host Rhayader Town Reserves while Penybont United travel to Hay St Marys Reserves.   Two sides in the bottom six will meet at The Racecourse where Penybont Athletic will take on Newbridge Reserves.
