Rhayader Town (in red) are level on points at the top of the Spar Mid Wales League

The race for the Spar Mid Wales League title will go all the way to the wire as Penparcau and Rhayader head a pack of six clubs that can still win the Championship.

Penparcau lead the table on goal difference after their 3-0 home win over Dyffryn Banw – they are seven goals better off than Rhayader who were 2-0 winners at Waterloo Rovers.

Llanrhaeadr are five points back in third place after their 2-1 home win over Newtown Reserves while Bow Street are fourth – they didn’t play this weekend.

The only other two sides in with a chance are Carno who were beaten 1-0 at home by Presteigne St Andrews, and Aberystwyth University who did their goal difference no harm at all in going to Caersws Reserves and burying the home side 11-0.

Tywyn Bryncrug have left themselves too much to do in terms of winning the title, but they added to bottom side Llanfyllin Town’s woes by winning 3-1 at the Magpies, while Dolgellau also remain in trouble after a 3-2 home defeat by Hay St Marys.

Newbridge must be wishing the season had started in March – the Villagers’ excellent recent run continued with a 2-1 home win over Llansantffraid Village.

In the Mid Wales League (South) the leaders Rhosgoch Rangers march as a result of their 7-0 victory at Radnor Valley while their main rivals Builth Wells were held to a 1-1 draw at Presteigne Reserves.

Llandrindod Wells stay very firmly in touch – they were 3-0 winners over Newcastle at The Broadway while Talgarth Town kept their faint title hopes alive after they ended St Harmon’s mini-revival with a 6-0 win at the league’s bottom side.

CP Llanandras climb above Radnor Valley to 15th in the table as a result of their 3-2 home win over Llandrindod Wells Colts while Rhayader Town Reserves came away from Builth Wednesdays with a 3-0 victory.

Knighton Town went down 1-0 at home to Talgarth Rovers, while Hay St Marys Reserves were 2-0 home winners over Penybont United.  The game at the Racecourse between Penybont Athletic and Newbridge Reserves was a late kick off.
