Presteigne St Andrews secured three more Spar Mid Wales League points when they beat visiting Dyffryn Banw 2-1 at Llanandras Park.

Banw took the lead inside the first five minutes when the profited from a defensive error, but Presteigne quickly regrouped and goals from Nick Evans and Sam Williams put them 2-1 up by the break – a lead they never surrendered.

It has been a good week for both strikers – Sam also scored the winning goal at Carno last weekend while Nick took his tally to five in two outings after his four-goal haul for the Under 18s on Monday evening.

Meanwhile, the Reserves are through to the semi-finals of the Penybont Cup after a comprehensive 4-1 quarter-final victory at Newcastle.

Despite fearing he would be without key players for the game, manager Barry Williams eventually managed to field a strong side for the tie and it clearly paid off.

Callum Matthews and Alan Stocker each scored twice for the Reserves, who took the lead after only 75 seconds.

There will be detailed reports on the matches up on the teams’ respective pages at some stage on Thursday 22 April as soon as I get a bit more information from those in the know, as well as a preview of the first team’s game at home to Llansantffraid Village on Friday 23 April.
