At the committee meeting the other night it was agreed the tickets for the Annual Dinner and Awards Night would cost £25.00 (cheques to be made payable to Presteigne St Andrews FC).
A reminder that the event is to be held at The Burton Hotel in Kington on Saturday 5 June. As for timings etc, it will be 7.00pm for 7.30pm – with a prompt start at 7.30pm. So, as the chairman put it so succinctly at the meeting the other night: ‘Make sure you are not getting on a minibus at The Farmers at quarter-to-eight, or you will miss your starter…’.
If you are planning on being at the dinner please can you let either Alan Randell or Dot Griffiths know as soon as possible. If you don’t think you are likely to see either of them in the near future, please feel free to email the website and I will pass your details on to them.
At this stage, we need to know numbers, so we are not expecting you to come up with your £25.00 immediately, although of course it would be helpful if you could.
We will need the money prior to the night though as otherwise somebody’s evening is ruined by trying to beat five pound notes out of the minority who have not paid for their ticket, but who can still put a twenty quid note over the bar.. (sorry, sounding a bit bitter and twisted there…).
In order to offset the inevitable cries of: ’25 quid…how much?!’ – it is just worth pointing out that the club never aims to make money on the dinner and the prices are fixed so that we break even.
For example, of that £25.00, around £18.00 is the price of the meal itself – then there is the cost of the disco and, of course, the not inconsiderable expense in buying the trophies for players-of-the-year for the four teams, as well as other sundry expenses that come into running such an event.
Also, it was £22.50 last year when the dinner was at the clubhouse, and the general view was that people wanted a move away from there, so there is an inevitable rise in cost.
The commitee would like to underline that we are not arranging transport to and from Kington – you will need to sort that out yourselves.
So, if you fancy being at the social event of the year, please speak to Alan or Dot and book your place.
