Presteigne St Andrews started the weekend in the best possible manner by completing a league double over Llansanffraid Village at Llanandras Park.
Presteigne ran out 3-2 winners in an eventful game responded to manager Tim Broome’s side call to back up last weekend’s victory over Carno.
Joey Price netted twice for Presteigne while Gareth Mansell was also on target.
From what I gather, Joey Price’s brace had the home side two goals up at the interval, but Llansantffraid came out very strongly in the second period and scored two goals of their own to tie up the game.
They were pushing for a winner when Gareth Mansell’s shot-cum-cross from wide out was helped into his own net by the visiting goalkeeper for what proved to be the winner.
Our thanks to Dave Bywater who stepped in to referee the match at very short notice after it appears the original official – Andrew Mills – wasn’t informed of the change to a Friday night.
It is hoped to have a detailed match report up on the site at some stage over the weekend but as I am spending Saturday in Worcester and Sunday in Leeds (yes, I know how to have a good time…), it could be Monday before it appears…
But, in the meantime, well done to Tim and his side for another good win – a result that takes them up to eighth in the table as they move three points clear of Llansantffraid Village after the sides started the night level on points.
Meanwhile, there is a preview up on the CP Llanandras page of their Sunday afternoon trip to Sennybridge – the kick off in that one will be at 2.30pm.
A reminder there is no game for the Reserves this weekend, but there is an Otway Cup tie at Llanandras Park on Sunday 25 April in which the first team are due to take on Hay St Marys – (kick off 2.00pm) while the Under 18s are due to round off their league programme on Monday evening when they will take on Hinton at Llanandras Park in a 7.30pm kick off.
