At the time of writing this – City have just netted their third against Villa on Match of the Day – not all the Spar Mid Wales results are to hand, but the one that matters is as Penparcau beat Aberystwyth University 3-1.

That result takes ‘arky three points clear at the top of the table and they now need only a point from their final match to secure the league title.

Rhayader Town didn’t play, but have only one game remaining so the title is surely Penparcau’s to lose.

Elsewhere, in addition to Presteigne’s point at Newbridge, Llansantffraid Village picked up an impressive 4-2 away win at Hay St Marys while in the basement battle, Dolgellau beat visiting Llanfyllin Town 3-1.

Tywyn Bryncrug and Carno battled out a 0-0 draw on the welsh coast, while the derby between Newtown Reserves and Caersws Reserves at Latham Park resulted in a 3-0 victory for the home side.

In the Mid Wales League (South) it is ‘as you were’ at the top – Builth Wells were top from Rhosgoch Rangers on goal difference and they improved that position by one goal – Builth were 6-1 winners at Hay St Marys Reserves while Rhosgoch had to make do with a 4-0 victory at Sennybridge.

Llandrindod Wells stay in touch after they, too, were 4-0 winners – in their case it was over Knighton Town at Bryn-y-Castell, while Steve Kay’s goal secured Presteigne Reserves a 1-0 home victory over Rhayader Town Reserves.

At the foot of the table, St Harmon seemed destined to occupy bottom spot although they must have run Radnor Valley close before Bobby Morgan’s side saw off the Swifts 1-0.  But that win wasn’t enough to lift Radnor above CP Llanandras who picked up a point from their 0-0 draw at Newcastle.

Penybont Athletic remain second-bottom after they were beaten 3-0 at Talgarth Rovers while the other Penybont side – United – fared far better in their home game against Builth Wednesdays in which they ran out 4-1 victors.

The day’s other game was between Newbridge Reserves and Llandrindod Wells Colts, and the visitors put their long run of poor form firmly behind them when they came away from Newbridge with a 4-0 victory.
