Details of the highly successful Golf Day in support of club funds and the Help for Heroes charity are now up on the relevant page on the drop down menu on the Social Events section of the site.

In the end, it was to prove a fine day for the Ammonds family, three of whom were involved in the winning team – although ironically the one member of the family who organised the event missed out on the top prize.

Tom Ammonds and Andy Crowe were the driving forces behind the day but Tom had to settle for a sixth-place finish in the 20-strong event.

Tom says they are still doing the final calculations regarding the total amount made on the day but they are hopeful of being able to make sizeable donations to both club funds and Help for Heroes.

“Financially I am not quite sure where we are – we were aiming for 40 teams but we lost a few due to a large funeral which was totally understandable,” he said.

“But we are looking at around £600-£700 each for the charity and club funds but that will depend on what we make from the auctions,” he added.

There were other fundraising aspects to the day, including an auction of rounds of golf at a variety of courses across the area and beyond, and the sale of bespoke photos – as illustrated by the one of Tom Ammonds at the top of the page.

As mentioned above, there is a more detailed report on the day’s events on the Social Events page, but congratulations are due to Tom and Andy for their organising for what was clearly a very successful event.
