Presteigne Reserves maintained their excellent run of form when they came away from a potentially tricky game at Talgarth Rovers with a convincing 6-0 victory.
Mark Weiland set Barry Williams’ side on its way with the opening goal while Jack Bowen and Rob Williams were also on target in the first half.
Callum Matthews then got in on the act after the interval as he netted twice while Bobby Bird also found the target.
This victory takes the Reserves to within a point of fourth-placed Talgarth Town and Barry’s side still has a game in hand over Talgarth.
Llandrindod Wells were also in action – they made the short trip to Penybont Athletic and there are as yet unconfirmed reports that Llan’dod won that one 7-0 – certainly, a Llandrindod win at The Racecourse would take them to within six points of the leading two clubs with a game in hand, and with a trip to Rhosgoch to come on Saturday 8 May.
There are two matches in the Mid Wales League (South) on Friday 7 May in which Builth Wells will try to steal a march on title rivals Rhosgoch by beating visiting Rhayader Town Reserves, while Knighton Town head to a Penybont Athletic side that will face its second game in 24 hours.
