Wednesday night action…

Presteigne St Andrews FCIn addition to Presteigne St Andrews’ long trip to Bow Street, there are four other Spar Mid Wales League matches due to take place this evening.

With the league title wrapped up by Penparcau and Rhayader Town having nailed down second place, most interest this evening is in the battle to get off the foot of the league table.

There is some confusion over bottom side Llanfyllin Town’s position – according to the league table, they are due to have only one more match, and yet they are down to head to Llanrhaeadr this evening and then Llanandras Park to take on Presteigne St Andrews on Friday night.

We are certain they are due with us on Friday night, but admit to being a bit confused about this evening’s scheduled trip to Llanrhaeadr – if they play both then – according to the two league tables available – they would have played 35 league matches!

Second-bottom Caersws Reserves will host Llansantffraid Village this evening knowing a win for them and a defeat for Llanfyllin Town (assuming they play) would put the issue beyond doubt as Llanfyllin would then be five points adrift with only one game to play.

Elsewhere Hay St Marys face a trip to Carno while Dolgellau will host Aberystwyth University.

Meanwhile, the one scheduled Mid Wales League (South) match that was due to be played this evening – Llandrindod Wells Colts v Talgarth Rovers – has been postponed.

The Tuesday night matches saw Rhosgoch Rangers win 3-2 at Newbridge Reserves while Builth Wednesdays were 4-0 victors at Sennybridge.
