Presteigne St Andrews FC staged the annual Mickey Dixon Open Pairs darts tournament at the clubhouse on Sunday 1 August.

Organised by Tom Ammonds, 24 pairs battled it out in the group stages with eight qualifying to move through to the knockout stages.

The eventual winners were Neil Astley and John Roberts from Welshpool who narrowly beat Jim Williams and Ben Amos of Shobdon in the final by five legs to four.

The furthest Ladies Pair was Sarah Whittaker and Chrissy Sheen (Presteigne Ladies).

Tom said it had been a really good day and he thanked all those who had worked so hard behind the scene to ensure the day was a success.

“Everyone in attendance enjoyed what was a great day of darts,” he said.

“Our thanks go to Annie Bufton (aka Davies!) who kept everyone fed with her excellent barbecue.

“Thanks also to Sarah Whittaker who undertook the cleaning of the trophy for us as well as everyone else who was involved in the organisation of the day,” he added.

A big thanks must go to Ken Marsh (Painter & Decorator), Tom Ammonds (Stitch Embroidery) and Presteigne St.Andrews Supporters Club for their kind sponsorship.
