Less than a week into the new season and the Mid Wales League (South) has been hit by the news that one of the new clubs this season – Bronllys – has informed league secretary Paul Worts they are to pull out of the competition.
The newcomers had been due to open their programme with a home game against Penybont on Saturday but it appears this game didn’t take place.
In a letter to the league secretary, club officials explained they were being forced into this action as the circumstances had changed over their use of their proposed home ground that would have led to them facing increased costs.
This news means Presteigne Reserves will now be without a match on Saturday 28 August as they were scheduled to host Bronllys at Llanandras Park on that day, while it also means more work for Paul Worts who has said he will try and reschedule matches in September so as to ensure all clubs have a game on Saturdays.
Bronllys’ withdrawal also means Newcastle will have a bye in the league cup, while Rhayader Town will also have a bye in the first round of the Aspidistra Radnorshire Cup.
