They might only have officially been in the Mid Wales League (South) for around a week, but already Bronllys have made their fair share of the headlines – and now comes news there could just a chink of light at the end of the tunnel for the Breconshire club.
Earlier today the Mid Wales League (South) secretary Paul Worts received notification from Bronllys that, regrettably, they were going to have to withdraw from the league due to ongoing issues with their proposed home ground.
Clubs due to play Bronllys in August – including Presteigne Reserves who were due to host them on 28 August – were warned they were likely to face a blank weekend.
But now Paul Worts has received communication from someone who is keen to continue the team at Bronllys and so it might not be the end of the road.
Paul is awaiting further communication but Bronllys’ scheduled fixtures for this week – against Hay St Marys Reserves on Thursday 19 August and fellow league newcomers Knighton Victoria on Saturday 21 August have been called off.
Andy Crowe and his reserve-team players might do well to hold off booking themselves a day off on 28 August as – should Bronllys survive – presumably there is a chance that game might go ahead after all.
Paul Worts has promised to keep everyone informed as soon as he knows more details so it is a case of ‘watch this space’.
