Presteigne St Andrews FC will open their Spar Mid Wales League first division programme on Wednesday 18 August when they will head to Lant Field for a tough opener against newly-promoted Builth Wells.

Anyone who watches football at any level will know that the promoted teams can prove a handful early on as they often still have the momentum brought them by a highly successful previous campaign, while they will also be determined to put down an early marker at the new level.

The early kick off time has not done Presteigne manager Barry Williams too many favours – the game at Builth is due to get underway at 6.45pm.

Barry is missing some players due to work commitments, while others are going to be struggling to make Builth for the kick off time, so might have to make do with a place on the bench.

There is a more detailed report on the first team page of the site – go to the top of this page and click on the ‘first team’ tab to see who is available and – more importantly – who isn’t.

If you are heading to Builth to cheer on the side, then please take a digital camera with you and take a few shots of the action, not forgetting to email the best efforts to me for use in the match report it is anticipated will appear here at some stage on Thursday 19 August.
