First team manager Barry Williams admitted it the 5-1 reversal at Builth Wells had been a highly disappointing start to the Spar Mid Wales League first division campaign but felt his side had learned some valuable lessons from the experience.

“I thought we started the game well enough after losing Ivesy [Danny Ives] in the warm up and having to reshuffle the team,” he said.

“But we didn’t do enough to get anything  out of the game and myself, Phil [Parker] and the lads know we can play a lot better than this.

“I really feel that we let the fans and ourselves down tonight and we will have to step things up quickly,” he admitted.

Jonny Bird scored what turned out to be Presteigne’s consolation goal while there was also a school of thought that Barry’s side was denied what most thought to be a stonewall penalty when the officials adjudged the offence had taken place just outside the area.

There is a full match report up on the first-team page of the site while it is hoped to have a preview of Saturday’s FAW Trophy match at Pennar Robins up at some stage on Friday 20 August.
