Andy Crowe’s Reserves put their first points on the board on Thursday evening when they beat Mid Wales League (South) newcomers Knighton Victoria 3-1 at Llanandras Park.
Mark Ammonds put the home side ahead with a free kick after 25 minutes while Alan Stocker doubled the advantage on the stroke of half-time with a neat finish from inside the penalty area.
Knighton Victoria gave themselves a chance with a neat volleyed finish on the turn in the second half and they then had a goal disallowed for offside, although the flag was reportedly up well before the ball hit the back of the net.
Two minutes later Presteigne Reserves effectively put the game to bed when Stocker popped up with his second goal of the night to make it 3-1.
But Andy Crowe was less than impressed that his side then sat back an invited the visitors on to them, but fortunately this was not to cost them dear as they were able to close out the game for the victory.
A detailed report will appear on the Reserves’ page of the website at some stage on Friday 20 August, while there will also be news on a couple of proposed friendly matches ‘Crowie’ is hoping to arrange as the side now faces being without a competitive game until Saturday 4 September.
If you were at the game and happened to take any photos, and you are prepared to let me have them to illustrate the match report, then please email them and they will more than likely be used. I would have been there myself, but a nasty outbreak of work got in the way…
