In addition to Presteigne St Andrews’ 7-1 home defeat by Bow Street there were five other matches in the Spar Mid Wales League first division.
Newbridge were also on the wrong end of a 7-1 scoreline as they were well beaten by a Berriew side that is going well towards the top of the table.
Carno are also going well – they were 4-2 winners at home to Dyffryn Banw while Penparcau also scored four times, but were still pushed hard by visiting Dolgellau who scored three goals of their own.
Llanidloes Town have settled into life well at this level and they picked up another point in a 1-1 draw at home to Tywyn Bryncrug whilst Llanrhaeadr picked up three points courtesy of a 2-o victory at Llansantffraid Village.
That win means Llanrhaeadr are the only first division side left with a 100 percent record – twelve points from three games and they are three points clear of Berriew at the top of the table.
Presteigne St Andrews are bottom, although only on goal difference from Dyffryn Banw and Barry’s side has played a game fewer than Banw. Aberystwyth University also have no points, but this is less surprising as they are yet to start their campaign.
Kerry also have a 100 percent record – 12 points from four games has them four points clear at the top of the second division but Tregaron Turfs made them work hard for a 4-3 home win to keep that record intact.
Abermule are still second but they lost ground when they were held to a 1-1 draw by visiting Montgomery Town while Rhosgoch Rangers are third with two games in hand after a 3-2 home win over Llandrindod Wells.
Talgarth Town had a good day – they showed few signs of any hangover from last weekend’s 10-0 defeat at Rhosgoch as they came away from Meifod with a 2-0 victory, while Four Crosses won 1-0 at Aberaeron. In the day’s other game, Llanfyllin Town are off and running – they won 3-2 at Bont and climbed five places off the foot of the table.
Rhayader Town Reserves continue to lead the way in the Mid Wales League (South) – a 2-0 victory at Penybont kept them firmly on top of the table, while Talgarth Town Reserves were also convincing winners as they saw off the division’s bottom side St Harmon 4-0 in Breconshire.
Andy Crowe will be delighted with Presteigne Reserves’ start to the season – after that opening-day thumping at Talgarth Town, it is three wins on the bounce now after a 4-2 victory at Llandrindod Wells Reserves
The division’s free scorers of the day were Newcastle who put eight goals past the home side at Sennybridge who managed only one in reply, while Builth Wells Reserves were also in free-scoring mood as they romped to a 6-1 home success over Knighton Victoria.
Knighton Town and Hay St Marys battled out a 1-1 draw at Bryn-y-Castell while Radnor Valley enjoyed themselves at Newbridge Reserves where they ran out 5-3 victors.
