Presteigne St Andrews’ first-team manager Barry Williams is facing up to more injury woes with the news defender Steve Kay could be out for the majority of the season.
‘Kayer’ picked up a knee injury during Saturday’s Spar Mid Wales League home match against Bow Street and Barry’s concerns the injury could prove serious appear to have been well founded.
“The news is not good, I am afraid,” said Barry. “It looks as though he has a torn lateral ligament as well as a cartilage tear.
“It appears as though ‘Kayer’ will need surgery to rectify problem.
“As yet, we don’t know how look he is likely to be out of the squad, but speaking to Steve he doesn’t think he will do much this season,” added Barry.
After the injuries to Max Powell and Callum Matthews, this was just about the last thing that Barry needed and he and assistant manager Phil Parker could be forgiven for feeling they are due a change in fortune.
