Presteigne St Andrews Under 18s side made a winning start to the season as they beat visiting Malvern Rangers 5-2 in their pre-season friendly at Llanandras Park.

Connor Bird scored twice, with Oliver Jones and Max Lewis also on target, while those in the clubhouse were still to confirm the scorer of the fifth goal, but I will amend the details as soon as the promised text arrives.

[Update:]  The promised text has arrived – thanks Dot!   It transpires that Oliver Jones netted twice in the match so well done to him.

Fortunately I didn’t take up Will Edwards’ advice when I called the clubhouse for the result – ‘Put anyone down for the final goal… say it was Danny Ives!’

An encouraging start then for manager Trevor Gummer and his squad as they prepare for another season in the Herefordshire Floodlit Youth League.

Meanwhile, there is a match report up on the Reserves page of the site following their 4-2 win at Llandrindod Wells Reserves on Saturday 4 September – thanks to Andy Crowe for the information.

It is hoped to have match previews of this weekend’s action up on the site at some stage either on Thursday or Friday depending when the information comes to hand.
