Presteigne St Andrews were not the only side in the Spar Mid Wales League first division to suffer a heavy defeat on Saturday 11 September.
Newbridge were also on the wrong end of a significant scoreline as they were beaten 6-1 at Dyffryn Banw – a result that saw Banw pick up their first points of the season.
In the day’s other game, Builth Wells picked up a useful point from a 1-1 draw at Llansantffraid Village – the results mean Presteigne St Andrews are the only side not to have picked up a point so far – yes, pedants will argue that Aberystwyth University are yet to register, but to be fair to the students they haven’t actually played a game yet, so they are at something of a disadvantage…
Division Two’s last surviving 100 percent record has gone – Kerry were held to a 2-2 draw in their game at Four Crosses, but Kerry still have a healthy five-point lead at the top of the table as second-placed Abermule failed to capitalise as they were beaten 3-1 at Tregaron Turfs.
Montgomery Town are up to third – they beat visiting Bont 5-1, but Talgarth Town dropped two points in a 0-0 draw at home to Llanfair United who picked up their first point of the season.
Llandrindod Wells shared eight goals with visiting Aberaeron at The Broadway for their second draw in three outings so far while Llanfyllin Town continue to pick up after a slow start – they were 4-2 winners at home to Meifod who are now bottom on goal difference.
In the Mid Wales League (South), newcomers Bronllys came up against a Rhayader Town Reserves side that was bang on top of its game – the home side ran out 13-0 winners at The Weirglodd.
Second-placed Newbridge Reserves maintained their good start to the season as they ran out 7-0 winners at Sennybridge who remain one of three sides without a point at the foot of the table – Bronllys and St Harmon are alongside them, although the Swifts didn’t play this weekend.
Newcastle kept up the pressure with a 2-0 home win over Knighton Town while Talgarth Town Reserves stay fourth after a 7-2 victory at Knighton Victoria.
Presteigne Reserves stay on the pace after their 2-1 victory at Penybont United, while Hay St Marys also remain firmly in touch after their 4-0 win at Radnor Valley.
In the day’s other game, Builth Wells Reserves beat visiting Llandrindod Well Reserves 3-1 at Lant Field.
