Presteigne St Andrews are still seeking their first Spar Mid Wales League point of the season after a 3-1 defeat at Tywyn Bryncrug.

But this was reportedly a much-improved performance by Barry Williams side and the early reports are that there were plenty of encouraging signs to work on.

Presteigne led 1-0 at half-time through Connor Bird who reportedly had a number of 0ne-on-ones with the home team keeper and made one of them count to put the visitors in front.

But Tywyn hit back in the second period to take the points although Presteigne – with Tom Ammonds featuring in defence –  were certainly far more competitive than they had been during last week’s home game against Berriew.

Meanwhile the Reserves got off to a flying start in their Mid Wales League (South) match at Newbridge Reserves when Adam Strangwood put them in front in the first minute of the game.

Danny White was then adjudged to have fouled a home-team player inside the area, but Luke Brimfield rose to the occasion as he saved the penalty.

Despite this, ‘bridge were 2-1 up at half-time, but Andy Crowe’s boys dug in during the second half and were rewarded when Alan Stocker popped up with the equaliser as they took a point from a 2-2 draw.

There will be more detailed reports as and when the information comes to hand, but it is hoped to have these up online on either Sunday 19 or Monday 20 September.
