Presteigne St Andrews were held to a 1-1 draw at home by visiting Tywyn Bryncrug in their Spar Mid Wales League match at Llanandras Park on Saturday 3 October.
After a goal-less first half in which Tywyn definitely shaded the first 20 minutes it was a more even second period, with the visitors taking the lead around the midway point of that second half.
To their credit, Presteigne finished strongly, but things were not looking good when Glen Tolley picked up a second yellow card ten minutes from time. But they kept battling away and netted a deserved equaliser in stoppage time when John Bird finished from around 15 yards.
“We deserved a point and it was a much better performance than last week’ was the considered view of the club chairman Alan Randell. A full match report will appear on the site at some stage over the weekend.
Tom Watkins was the star of fine 6-0 away win for Presteigne Reserves as they proved far too strong for Newbridge Reserves. Watkins netted four in Barry Williams side’s away victory with Callum Matthews and Nigel Duggan also on target.
It was to be an early exit from the Emrys Morgan Cup for CP Llanandras as they crashed 8-2 at home to Corris United. Chris and Mark Ammonds each scored for Llanandras, but manager Andy Crowe admitted his side had been guilty of some ‘suicidal defending’.
More detailed match reports on the Reserves and CP Llanandras games will also appear on the site as soon as the relevant information comes to hand.
