Presteigne St Andrews Under 18s will be looking to build on their solid start to the HFA Floodlit Youth League season tonight, but they admit their away trip to Lads Club is something of a leap into the unknown.
Dot Griffiths tells me she can’t ever remember Lads Club fielding a side at this level, so clearly manager Trevor Gummer will have found it difficult to do any homework on the opposition ahead of tonight’s game at Hereford Leisure Centre (kick off 7.30pm).
The only pointer they have is that while Presteigne opened with a 2-1 home win over Leominster Minors last week, so Lads Club were busy seeing off Hinton 5-2 in their opener.
There is a more detailed preview of the match on the Under 18s page of the site and it is hoped to have a result posted on the home page later tonight (well, it would be difficult to do it much earlier than that..!) with a match report appearing on the Under 18s page at some stage on Tuesday 28 September.
Meanwhile, there is a detailed report – including a few thoughts from manager Barry Williams – on the first-team game against Dolgellau on their page of the site – click on ‘First Team’ at the top of the page and it should take you there.
I have also been speaking to Reserve-team boss Andy Crowe and there is a report of their 4-1 victory at Sennybridge up on their page of the site.
The usual plea – if you are heading down to Hereford Leisure Centre tonight for the Under 18s’ game against Lads Club, then please take a photo or two and email them into the site for use in the match report.
I am not looking for the kind of thing David Bailey would be proud of (although I wouldn’t knock it back, clearly) – a halfway decent piccie taken by a good quality mobile phone camera would do the job nicely.
