Presteigne St Andrews Under 18s earned a point from a 1-1 draw in tonight’s HFA Floodlit Youth League meeting against Lads Club at Hereford Leisure Centre.
After a goal-less first half, Danny Ives put Presteigne ahead in the second period but the home side was then awarded a penalty which they scored to take a point.
Speaking from the car on the way back from Hereford, the Under 18s’ assistant manager Roy Simcock felt it was a decent enough point but was also of the view that Presteigne might just have taken all three points.
“We did alright but we had a few chances towards the end when we might just have nicked it,” he said.
“But we did ok overall and it gives us something to build on for the coming matches,” he added.
Four points from six is a solid start for Trevor Gummer’s side and they will be looking to build on that when they entertain Llandrindod Wells at Llanandras Park on Monday 4 October.
There will be a more detailed report on the Under 18s page of the site at some stage on Tuesday 28 September.
