Another busy weekend lined up

Presteigne St Andrews FC
Tom Ammonds (left) should be back in the first-team squad

Both Presteigne St Andrews and Presteigne Reserves will be in action this weekend with the first team at home to Llansantffraid Village in the Spar Mid Wales League first division and the Reserves due to head to south Shropshire for a match against Newcastle.

Barry Williams is able to call on a number of players who  missed the first-team trip to Llanrhaeadr last weekend – among them Tom Ammonds, who has recovered from injury, and Rob Williams, who is back after suspension.

He will be without Bobby Bird – who is serving a one-match ban following his red card for deliberate hand ball at Llanrhaeadr – and Jonny Bird, who has headed off to university.

Reserve-team boss Andy Crowe is looking forward to both his and Barry Williams’ squads starting to settle down as he feels continuity will be key to his team’s chances of success this season.

‘Crowie’ feels the trip to Newcastle is likely to prove the toughest game of the season so far – the teams are level on points in the Mid Wales League (South) table.

Mikey Lewis is likely to return to the squad after injury but the Ressies will have to make do without Tom Hooper who has been called up by the first team.

There are more detailed reports – complete with the thoughts of the managers on how they feel things might go – on the team’s respective pages.  Click on the tabs at the top of the page to take you there.

If you are heading to Newcastle for the Reserves game, please take a piccie or two and then email them in to the site for use in the match reports that it is hoped will appear on the site on either Sunday 10 or Monday 11 October.
