Aberystwyth University are off and running in the Spar Mid Wales League first division this season after they ran out 2-1 winners at Llanidloes Town on Monday 11 October.
For obvious reasons the students are traditionally late starters in terms of their fixtures and they were beaten 3-1 in their opening match of the season at Waterloo Rovers last Saturday.
But they clearly put this setback behind them quickly to bounce back with a very decent win at a Llanidloes Town side that has adapted well to life in the first division after winning promotion from the Montgomeryshire League last season.
I take absolutely no pleasure at all in pointing out that last night’s result now leaves Presteigne St Andrews three points adrift at the foot of the table.
Barry Williams and his side will soon have an opportunity to take a look at the ‘Class of 2010-11’ at first hand as the first team are due to visit Aberystwyth University on Saturday 23 October.
Before that, they have another trip to the seaside (or as good as) this coming Saturday when they will head to Penparcau.
