Preview of the weekend action

Presteigne St Andrews FCLlanrhaeadr will go into the weekend with a very healthy four-point lead at the top of the Spar Mid Wales League first division and they will be aiming to at least maintain this gap when they take on Builth Wells at home.

Second-placed Berriew will not have the chance to capitalise on any slip-ups by Llanrhaeadr – they don’t have a league game, but third-placed Bow Street will he hoping to close the gap on the leaders but they are involved in the division’s match of the day as they head to fourth-placed Newbridge.

Penparcau are fifth in the table and – like it or not – they will be looking to continue their climb up the table at the expense of Presteigne St Andrews while Tywyn Bryncrug face a trip to third-bottom Dyffryn Banw.

Aberystwyth University put their first points on the board in some style on Monday night with a 2-1 win at a previously-impressive Llanidloes Town, and they will be looking to build on that when they entertain Dolgellau while the day’s other game will see Carno host Waterloo Rovers.

In the second division, Kerry have set a cracking pace at the top – they are 10 points clear at the top of the table and will be confident of further success when they head to third-bottom Aberaeron.

Abermule and Tregaron Turfs head the chasing pack but it will be left to Tregaron to try to close the gap as Abermule are without a game.   Tregaron are away at Llandrindod Wells.

Rhosgoch Rangers are fourth and have games in hand over the clubs above them – they will be looking to put bottom side Meifod to the sword when they meet at Crow Lane while Llanfair United will host Montgomery Town.

There will be another Montgomeryshire derby at Four Crosses where Llanfyllin Town will be the visitors while Talgarth Town will have home advantage for their match against Bont.

In the Mid Wales League (South) the leaders Rhayader Town Reserves will put their 100 percent record on the line when they will travel to Llanandras Park to take on Presteigne Reserves while second-placed Newcastle are without a match.

Newbridge Reserves are third – they will be confident of bouncing back from their League Cup exit at Rhayader when they will head to so far win-less Bronllys while, also at the bottom of the table, St Harmon will be looking to build on their recent improved form when they head to a Sennybridge side that is also still looking for its first points of the season.

Both Knighton sides are in action – Town are at home to Penybont, while Victoria will head to Radnor Valley.

There are two other scheduled matches – Builth Wells Reserves will entertain Talgarth Town Reserves while Hay St Marys will welcome Llandrindod Wells Reserves to Forest Road.
