…or Penparcau, Rhosgoch and the John Beddoes School field – either way, Presteigne St Andrews and their supporters had little to cheer about on Saturday 10 October.
The first team are out of the Spar Mid Wales League Cup after a 5-3 reversal at Penparcau in their preliminary-round tie. Max Powell, playing in central midfield, scored twice for Presteigne with Danny Tolley also on target, but Luke Hicks was sent off late on in that one.
Presteigne came from 3-1 down at half-time to square the game at 3-3, but Penparcau scored from a twice-taken penalty and then netted a fifth in the dying minutes as Presteigne pushed for an equaliser.
The Reserves are out of the Mid Wales League (South) Cup after a 4-0 defeat at Rhosgoch Rangers. Not too many details yet, but reports suggest manager Barry Williams was less than impressed by the performance. (I think he summed it up a bit more concisely than that, but I could not put his reported post-match thoughts – as they were relayed to me – on a family-friendly website!)
It was always likely to be tough for CP Llanandras who were at home to Mid Wales League (South) leaders Llandrindod Wells and ultimately so it proved as the Spa left with a 3-0 victory. But the early reports are that CP Llanandras ‘played well’ – and that came from a member of the Llandrindod party, rather than anyone from Presteigne.
Full match reports will appear on the respective pages as and when the information comes to hand, but just a reminder that the next action at Llanandras Park will be on Monday 12 October when the Under 18s will take on Ludlow Town in a 7.30 kick off.
