It wasn’t a great day for Presteigne St Andrews Football Club as both the first team and the Reservess were beaten in what were admittedly tough-looking fixtures for both sides.
Barry Williams’ first team was decimated by injuries and unavailabilities for a tricky game at Llanidloes Town who have been going well in the Spar Mid Wales League first division since winning promotion at the end of last season.
So it proved as Max Powell’s goal was the only reward for the first team as they were beaten 7-1 – a result that clearly leaves them at the bottom of the table.
The Reserves’ selection was also hampered as Barry clearly needed to dip into Andy Crowe’s squad in order to supplement his team, and ‘Crowie’s’ boys pulled up short at home to Newcastle who left Llanandras Park with a 3-1 victory.
Stuart Skidmore was on target for the Reserves in what was reportedly an entertaining game with my correspondent telling me that ‘it could have gone either way’.
Full reports will appear up online at some stage on either Sunday 13 or Monday 14 February – just as soon as I get the information from the managers.
Meanwhile, advance warning that the Under 18s’ scheduled HFA Floodlit Youth League match against Hinton that was due to be played on Monday 14 February has been postponed.
Apparently Hinton’s manager has told us that he can’t make the game, and nobody else is available to bring them up to Llanandras Park, so that will be another one to be rearranged. They are probably all taking their loved ones out for a Valentine’s Day meal…..
